Health and Safety Information

Ensuring the safety of students and staff is the district’s top priority and is an important focus as we transition to full-time in-person instruction in our schools. Safety plans and protocols are in place for regular cleaning and disinfecting, social distancing, face coverings, transportation, meals, daily routines, following health department protocols in the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19 and more.

Everyone has an important role!

  • Ensure you are well enough for school
  • Wear face coverings/mask
  • Frequent hand washing/hand sanitizer
  • Maintain social distancing
  • Follow safety protocols and instructions from staff members
  • Parents: It is important to notify your child’s principal if you child is sick, has been exposed to or tested for COVID-19.

COVID-19 Protocols

Safety protocols are in place that are followed by students, staff and visitors to district facilities. In the event a COVID-19 case is reported to the district, the health department will provide guidance on contact tracing, notifications and any additional measures.

  • Individuals who are determined to have potential close contact (within six feet for 15 minutes or more) will be notified regarding testing and quarantine.
  • A weekly report of confirmed cases by location will be provided on the district website.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Schools and buildings are conducting increased daily cleaning and disinfecting of high-traffic areas, doors, counters and places that are high-touch points and very public, as well as horizontal surfaces.

Restrooms, health rooms and drinking fountains are disinfected multiple times during the day. Guidelines and supplies for cleaning desks and tables were provided for each classroom, and staff members clean and sanitize high-touch areas throughout the day. Additionally, buses are cleaned and disinfected twice daily, as well as in between routes.

Face Coverings and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Students and staff are required to wear face coverings when on the school bus and at school. Face coverings may be removed during eating and at other designated times while outside.

The district provides face coverings for all students and staff members. Students should bring face coverings every day, but extras are on hand if a student arrives to the bus or school.

Staff members will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) commensurate with their role and interaction with others. Information on how to properly put on and take off PPE is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
