Principal Message

Hello Woodbrook Families,

On April 26th we celebrated the month of the military child with a spectacular school wide assembly. The assembly opened with the Lakes JROTC presentation of the colors. ASB students shared poems written by students from military families and we heard a heartfelt message from Mr. Tucker regarding the sacrifices military children make in support of their families. Then the audience was captivated by an inspiring student vocalist. In addition, our incredible 8th grade band performed several fun numbers throughout the assembly. The Lakes Dance Team closed out the celebration offering a riveting dance routine that was enjoyed by all. It was an honor to acknowledge the military students we are privileged to serve at Woodbrook during their family’s station at JBLM.

May is here and with it comes the Smarter Balance Summative Assessment. It is an opportunity for all students to display their learning and understanding of vital standards and concepts. The Smarter Balance Summative Assessments determine students’ progress toward college and career readiness in English language arts/literacy and math. Please encourage your students to sleep well, eat healthy, come to school, be on time, and do their best.

While it feels so close to the end of the year, there is still much to do. Participating in classes, asking questions, and persevering through tough challenges all make for not only a successful student but are characteristics of a lifelong learner! This time of year can be pivotal in either finishing strong or falling behind for next year. We want to support you and your students in this effort so please do not hesitate to reach out to our teachers, counselors or administrators.

Woodbrook has a dedicated group of teachers and support staff. They are a remarkable group of individuals who enjoy what they do and are committed to the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of students. May 7th is National Teachers Appreciation Day, if you have time, please consider sending a note to a former or current teacher of your child or ask your child to write a note to a teacher who has made a difference in their life.

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year, we could not offer such a rich education to our students without the continuing effort and support that you all give.

With Appreciation,

Rebecca Sprague
